Welcome to our Events!  Medsar comprises many events to keep our members growing and serving the community, this is a summarized view about community events that we spread-shed for you.

WORLD DIABETES DAY CELEBRATION CAMPAIGN (2017) 

World Diabetes Day, 14th Nov 2017

The theme of World Diabetes Day (WDD) 2017 – 14 November – is Women and Diabetes, with the slogan “Our right to a healthy future”.

  • To Celebrate world Diabetes Day, we participated in preparation of a Countrywide NCDs Screening together with RBC and other partners that work on NCDs.

  • We did a NCDs raising awareness and Screening in UR/Remera Campus and we organized also a MEDSAR Diabetes Day where we celebrated it in Huye District at Imberabyombi.  Teachings and screening events were done on that day.
  • MEDSAR 2018 Diabetes day Celebration was recognized by the IFMSA as the second.

PRIMARY EYE CARE ACTIVITIES

 Vision For A Nation Foundation trained
our medical students about Primary Eye care.

After
that certified training, we did a community Primary eye care out reach in Kirehe
district.

We
did also  a primary eye care outreach at Mukura
sector.

CANCER CAMPAIGN ACTIVITIES

In
partnership with Rwanda Children Cancer Relief and RBC, We conducted an
outreach at Butaro
Hospital.

We conversed with patients suffering from different types of cancers to bring hope, and show them that the country still need them.After that we provided fruits and other basics need to them.

After
this we conducted a Session about Cancer in Rango Sector/ near rango
market.

WORLD MALARIA DAY

•On World Malaria Day, we had an online
talk with Dr
IRAKOZE Magnific then
after we used that knowledge to conduct a session at Gatagara
Secondary school

World Women Day

•As the them stated “ press for progress”, we prepared a competition of women as a way of empowering them. •We had inspiring talks from high social status level, so that our fellow ladies can overcome challenges they face especially those that undermine them. •They played Volley ball and we awarded the winners.

MEDSAR-CPSAR COMMEMORATION DAY

•This is an event prepared by Medical and
psychological students’ association of Rwanda (MEDSAR and CPSAR) on 16th June 2018. It had undergone two main
activities which are critical thinking training and visit Murambi
memorial site with the purpose of helping students to develop their critical
thinking and to learn from our history as Rwandans.

    TRAINING ON CRITICAL THINKING •In the morning we started with a critical thinking training with the trainers from Never Again Rwanda with eight two (82) participants.

VISITING MURAMBI MEMORIAL SITE • After the training and taking a lunch in the afternoon, we went with university bus to Murambi memorial where we spent two hours learning a lot about our history. 

World Aids DAY Celebration

we
partnered with RBC and other Civil societies to organize National HIV/Aids
Celebration which.

During
this event MedSAR members are the one who launched for the first time ORAQUICK
HIV Self-testing.

On same day we were carrying also World Aids Day celebration in huye district,19 days after these events, we distributed the Ora Quick Hiv Self-testing kits in UR/Remera campus.

Sexual Reproductive Health session in UR/Rusizi Campus

we
carried an SRH session at Rusizi Campus. We were with UR Vice chancellor
where we participated in Umuganda then we conducted a session.

We
distributed condoms to them and we made accessible morning after pills (Norlevo) and
how they can get them to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

INTERNATIONAL CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL

•We celebrated also an International
Candle light Memorial day.

•Prior to the event we did HIV Testing in
community and during the celebration of the day.

•We gave also basic needs to children
whose parents died because of HIV/Aids.
