Our story
Over 20 years, the Medical Students’ Association of Rwanda, MEDSAR has been representing and empowering future doctors of Rwanda. It has also been a channel for students to be involved in activities that promote health serving the community.
Medical Students’ Association of Rwanda (MEDSAR) is an independent, nongovernmental and non-political organization of medical students of Rwanda.
It was founded in 1997 and is running for and by medical students on a non-for-profit basis.
MedSAR is officially recognized by the University of Rwanda as a non-governmental students’organization (NGO).
MedSAR is recognized by the School of Medicine and Pharmacy and supported by the Dean’s office.
MEDSAR expanded its boundaries by creating the Partnership of MEDSAR and IMCC (international Medical Cooperation Committee) -RWANDA which stood as a corner stone
in the past 10 to 11 years.
The partnership championed community outreach activities,
and thus MEDSAR’s name was highly recognized in local government as one of the Youth Networks that plays a key role to educate the community well being.
